This is a Community Information Alert from the City of Kettering. The hydrants near you are scheduled to be inspected between Monday July 13, 2026 and Friday July 17, 2026 between the hours of 8:00 am and 5:00 pm. Inspections are scheduled within this window of time to allow for interruptions due to poor weather. Please be aware that through this inspection process mineral deposits contained within the water delivery system can be disturbed causing brown water. These mineral deposits pose no threat to health or safety, although these deposits could discolor laundry. We suggest residents check the clarity of your water prior to washing laundry. If brown water is observed simply run cold water until it clears. Residents are being asked to wash clothing after 5:30 pm Monday thru Thursday or anytime Friday, Saturday or Sunday to avoid the risk of stains caused by brown water. If clothing becomes discolored, it is suggested to wash clothing again using a rust removing detergent prior to drying. In the unlikely event that rust removing detergent is needed, it is available at Kettering Fire Department Headquarters at 4745 Hempstead Station Drive.
